UNCOVERING THE COMPLEXITY OF THE MICROSOFT SPLA PROGRAM

Example: We install a domain controller, file server, print server and SQL database into a customers office on hardware they have purchased, and use our SPLA licences.
What happens if they leave us? Obviously, they don’t qualify for using licences, and killing all those servers off would cripple their business.
- Are we responsible for charging the customer an “exit fee” to perpetually license their servers?
- Do we just get them to sign an “off-boarding” agreement that states they are responsible now?
- Do we have to physically remove our licenses from their servers and replace them with “something” else?
I appreciate these may be really basic questions, but someone has to ask them!
