I work for an MSP and we have a VMware cluster that is shared with multiple tenants.
Obviously all Windows OS on that cluster is using SPLA.
With that being the case, under SPLA terms, do we need to have full management of each VM? (ie: Local Administrator access) This would provide us logon to perform an audit of what is installed to ensure their hosted VM meets SPLA requirements?
If we don’t have this access, the customer could potentially be installing other MS applications without our knowledge, which means we, the MSP may be non-compliant. I’d estimate more than 80% of the VMs are fully managed, but I’m concerned about that 20% that we do not have logon rights to.
I don’t see this in the SPLA terms, nor in SPUR or any other document I can find, but I have read unofficial posts that state we need to “manage” the system. What does “manage” mean?
