I work for a data center provider. We have different teams taking care of our hosting environments, and the teams may change customers from time to time. Hence, the amounts of administrators in the environments can, according to AD listings be far greater than the allowed 20 in the SPLA agreement. How do we tackle this, how many RDS should we report? Do we have to pay attention to the correct users in AD, removing and adding people on the go? Or – can we use the same RDS license for one administrator working, shall we say, in 5 different environments (as RDS is user based). Obviously one administrator can’t work with multiple environments simultaneously. In our internal reports we could in that case rule out multiple RDS licenses against the user (appearing in many customer environments). Would we be compliant using this strategy?
