UNCOVERING THE COMPLEXITY OF THE MICROSOFT SPLA PROGRAM

Hi
My question is what needs to be reported?
The number of mailboxes/Accounts are reported using SAL.
In the SPUR document it states
“Provided it acquires one or more SALs for the software, Customer may use any number of Running Instances of the server software”
Is that indicating you don’t need to report any servers only the SALs?
If you do report servers what do you report if not using Hyper-V? I noted the Cloud Platform Suite & Guest model which seems fairly clear, however if you are using a different hypervisor e.g. XEN or VMware what do you report for servers?
Say for example I have a XenServer hypervisor with 3 mailbox servers on it running server 2012r2 and exchange 2013 – how should that be reported under SPLA?
Any insight/guidance appreciated.
Thanks
Paul
