UNCOVERING THE COMPLEXITY OF THE MICROSOFT SPLA PROGRAM
Lets say my company is X and X has some customers which use products X develop. Then X has some partners who also can implement some projects for X’s customers. So lets say Customer Y which belongs to company X decided to choose Partner z to get it done Y’s Project. But Since X has the tool support and needed infra structure partner Z decide to use the infrastructure and tool that is hosted in Company X environment.
In this Case the Tools that Partner uses is a 3rd party tool that is customized by and hosted by the Company X which runs on Windows Desktop. So the Partner user connect to a Citrix environment hosted by Company x and open a Desktop in Citrix which runs Windows OS and Customized tool is installed there. So partner company can use the tool in order to work on the X’s customers Project which is own by Partner z.
So customer pays directly to the partner for the Project but customer pays directly for the company X for the Application licences.
So in this case both Partner company and company x and Customer too benefits. Does the Company x need SPLA for this case?
What other things to consider like Citrix licenses, VmWare licences….etc.
Appreciate any help on this.
Thanks
